Swansea have finally completed the transfer of Bristol City winger Marc Goodfellow, after the player passed a medical at the club today. Goodfellow has put pen to paper on a one year deal, which will be extended by a further year should the player make a certain number of first-team appearances. Finalising the deal is a shrewd move by Jackett, who has signed Goodfellow on a free transfer after originally finding his £25k bid rejected at Christmas. However, Bristol City will be compensated should the winger satisfy a number of clauses, which are based on appearances and goals next season.
Supporters have been forced to wait a long time for the club's first summer signing and there can be no doubt that the majority of fans will be delighted with this signing. "Freezer" quickly became a fans' favourite in his loan spell last Chrismas, scoring four goals in eight games, before being recalled back to Ashton Gate by Bristol City manager Brian Tinnion.
"I see him principally as a goalscorer, and that is how he will be judged", Jackett told the press this afternoon. "He came down here on loan and did well, so I'm delighted to have his creativity and goal threat here on a permanent basis".
