Swansea have announced that they have submitted an "official written bid" for Rochdale striker Grant Holt and are awaiting the Manchester club's response. With a mini-injury crisis affecting the Welsh club's attacking options, Jackett has moved swiftly to attempt to secure one of League Two's top marksmen.
Chris Turner plucked Holt from non-league Barrow in 2003 and added him to an under-performing Sheffield Wednesday side, where the striker went on to make 30 appearances. However, after a lack of first team opportunities, Holt was allowed to leave in the summer and joined Rochdale on a free transfer - going on to score 19 goals in all competitions so far this season.
Holt has attracted a number of higher league clubs and would be a major coup for Swansea, should Rochdale accept the bid. However, with Rochdale currently sitting just outside the playoff positions, it is doubtful as to whether or not his current side would be willing to part with arguably their biggest asset.
