Ex-Swansea transfer target Christian Edwards will apparently not be joining his home-town club before Thursday's deadline, despite being placed on the transfer list by Bristol Rovers. Kenny Jackett has decided against making an offer for the ex-Nottingham Forest centre-back, believing that his defensive line has enough strength in depth to see out a successful promotion campaign.
The Rovers' centre-back has found recent opporunities limited for Ian Atkins' side, despite starting every league match up until the LDV Vans Semi-Final against Leyton Orient, but now finds himself tranfer listed as Ian Atkins attempts to cut the wage bill. Edwards has been the subject of a number of enquiries from the Swansea board over the last 18 months - all of which have been rejected by Bristol Rovers.
Kenny Jackett certainly believes that his squad doesn't need strengthening, shown by the lack of transfer activity at the Vetch during this usually chaotic last week. Last season, Swansea strengthened on deadline day with loan moves for Millwall's Matt Rees and Brentford's Lee Fieldwick amongst others, although it appears unlikely that any new faces will arrive at the Vetch in the next 24 hours.
