Swans release Pintado

The Spanish striker joined the south Wales outfit from Granada in the summer of 2008 but fell down the pecking order last season after struggling with a shoulder injury early in the campaign.

The 33-year-old went on loan to AEK Larneca in January but his spell in Cyprus was curtailed by a serious knee injury.

And with manager Brendan Rodgers having the likes of record signing Danny Graham, Luke Moore and Craig Beattie to call upon in attack, with Leroy Lita an imminent arrival, the Swans have parted company with Pintado by mutual consent.

Pintado told the Swansea website: "I would like to thank the supporters and the club for everything. Everyone has been so warm and welcoming since I have been here.

"It's been a pleasure representing Swansea and I wish all the supporters and the club continued success on and off the field.

"I'm sad to leave, but that's football. I have had a happy three years here and it's nice to know it has coincided with arguably the best three years in the club's history.

"I have a few options open to me. But my priority at the moment is to get myself fit after such a nasty injury."
