Bodde hobbled off just 29 minutes into his comeback game against Peterborough on Saturday and is now set for another extended spell on the injury list after being told he needs surgery again.
The operation is likely to rule out the Dutch playmaker until the start of next season, with Swans boss Paulo Sousa admitting the blow is a bitter one to swallow.
"We all feel for Ferrie. It's something we never could have predicted," he told the club's website.
"He looked stronger than ever and fully integrated himself into training. It's a shock to everyone and all we can do now is wish him a speedy recovery again."
Bodde added: "I'm devastated. It's nobody's fault, just one of those things."
