"I think Michael has made it clear that he is happy here and that things are going along well," he said.
"But he has also made it clear that he is not here for life either, so I think there's a balance to be found.
"If we can get through next season and then get another year out of Michael as well, so that he has spent three years with us at the very least and the club has moved forward.
"I think personally that would suit both parties."
