Levante fielded most of their first team squad but failed to break down the Swans resistance. De Vries, making his home debut, made some excellent saves, notably from two Levante free kicks from Viqueira . Swans opening goal came just before half-time with Andy Robinson scoring after a neat one-two with Scotland. Either side of the goal the Swans had two goals disallowed for offside. Scotland's effort was correctly disallowed, however, Duffy's goal should have been given.
Jason Scotland then put the Swans 2-0 early in the second half with a fine left-foot finish from an Andy Robinson pass. Swans could have and should have scored more, but the closest they came to increasing their lead was when Paul Anderson, coming on as substitute for Robinson, hit the bar when he probably should have done better. Levante never really troubled the Swans in the second half and the Swans ran out worthy winners.
Willy Gueret, who played 90 minutes for MK Dons on Saturday, was not in the squad for the match and this will probably signal the end of his time at Swansea City. We have also heard that he may not be the only player to leave this week. Could there also be more arrivals? We shall see.
