Swansea City vice-captain Alan Tate is suspended for the next three games after failing in his appeal against the red card he was shown against QPR.A confrontation with QPR's Clint Hill in Swansea's 4-0 loss at Loftus Road on Boxing Day saw both players sent off by referee Phil Crossley.
On Wednesday a Football Association of Wales disciplinary panel rejected Tate's claim of wrongful dismissal.
However, QPR's appeal against the red card shown to Hill was successful.
A clumsy challenge by Tate on QPR full-back Kyle Walker in the 19th minute was the flashpoint for the altercation between the Swansea defender and Hill.
The appeal meant that Tate was able to play on Tuesday night in the 1-0 home win over Barnsley.
But he will now sit out the New Year's Day visit of Reading and the 3 January trip to Leicester in the Championship, plus the third-round FA Cup clash at home to Colchester on 8 January.
