Tuesday`s hard-fought 1-0 victory at Coventry elevated the Swans up to second place in what is fast becoming a rollercoaster battle to reach the top flight.
City welcome promotion rivals Leeds to the Liberty Stadium this weekend in what is sure to be another stern test of the club`s aspirations.
And Tate is adamant he and his team-mates are not getting carried away by their lofty position.
"We don't dwell on defeats and we don't dwell on wins," he told the South Wales Evening Post. "You can't get too high when you win and you can't get too down when you lose. We've just got to move on.
"It's irrelevant where we are at this time of the season. We're not going to get promoted because we won on Tuesday. We're just trying to plod along and see what the next result brings. We've won this one (at Coventry) so let's move on to the next."
