Cedric van der Gun hopes to play a big part in Swansea City's plans this season under new boss Brendan Rodgers. The Dutch winger arrived at the Liberty Stadium last September on an initial one-year deal but has the option of taking up another season with Swansea.
The 31-year-old can walk away as a free agent, but his ambition is to help turn Swansea into a potent attacking force.
"I enjoyed my last year, played some good football, but I think I can do a lot better," Van der Gun said.
"We had a good season, a lot of points, but we didn't score a lot of goals. Defensively we were really good, offensively we didn't score a lot of goals.
"So I felt really good playing my football but I was a little bit disappointed with my own individual performance because I know I can do a lot better.
Maybe in the next few days he'll [manager Brendan Rodgers] come to me and we'll have a talk
Cedric van der Gun
"I have played - especially in Holland - the last couple of years really well, so... from this year, offensively I want to do a lot more than I did last year.
Van der Gun scored two goals in 26 appearances last season for the Swans under ex-manager Paulo Sousa, but his strike rate at former club FC Utrecht was significantly higher at 17 from 52 matches, while earlier in his career at home-town club ADO Den Haag he hit the back of the net 12 times in 58 games.
That scoring dip was indicative of Swansea's general malaise in front of goal last season.
Although the south Wales club had one of the best defensive records in the Championship, conceding just 37 times from 46 games, their goals for column was one of the worst - just 40 - and ultimately left Swansea just short of the play-off places.
New manager Rodgers, the former Reading and Watford boss who was appointed last week, has a reputation for attacking, attractive football.

Van der Gun is set to discuss his future at Swansea with Rodgers soon and the player hopes that he figures in the new manager's plans for the coming campaign.
"Maybe he wants to wait to see a couple of training sessions, a couple of games, maybe in the next few days he'll come to me and we'll have a talk," Van der Gun said.
"Of course you always want to know what's going to happen, so we'll see.
"My situation is I have a contract for another year but I can leave transfer-free, it was a deal I had with the chairman [Huw Jenkins].
"So we have to wait and see, especially with the new manager coming in, what their expectations are for me this season. When I find out we'll see what's going to happen."
