However, Swans chairman Huw Jenkins has revealed that Wigan are at present unwilling to agree to the compensation fee that the Swans would require for Martinez's departure.
"Wigan asked for permission to speak to Roberto," Jenkins has said.
"They asked what compensation we would be looking for and we talked about different figures.
"I told them what I valued Roberto at and they told me what they thought but we were miles apart, to say the least.
"I have not given them permission to talk to Roberto."
