Sheffield Wednesday's Richard Evans will join Swansea over the Christmas period in a bid to win a permanent contract. New Owls' boss Paul Sturrock has agreed to let the young Welsh winger join Swansea on trial, after failing to break into the first team since he took over the reigns.
Born in Caerphilly, ex-Wednesday boss Chris Turner signed Evans from Birmingham on a free-transfer on deadline-day 2003. The left-sided winger went on to make four first-team appearances that season, including scoring his first senior goal against Burnley, before suffering a cruciate ligament injury last year that ruled him out of the majority of the season. Evans is currently on a month-to-month contract at Hillsborough while the coaching staff assess his progress in overcoming his horrific injury, but it appears that Sturrock is happy to let the Welshman leave for free.
