Swansea striker Lee Trundle was only on the pitch for 20 minutes - but still played a major role in keeping his side's promotion push on target in the 2-1 win over Leyton Orient.
Trundle limped off injured midway through the first half but, by then, had already scored a spectacular goal to put Swansea ahead and set up the second for his skipper Kevin Nugent.
The game was just nine minutes old when Trundle netted his 12th of the season with an excellent overhead kick from eight yards after ex-O's star Nugent had headed the ball back into the danger area.
Six minutes later Trundle returned the favour when he hung up a cross to the far post and Nugent gleefully headed home.
After that the O's took control of the game but failed to make their possession count as Swansea keeper Roger Freestone dominated his area while Izzy Iriekpen was outstanding at the heart of the defence.
Orient's persistence finally told two minutes from time when Matthew Lockwood's cross from the left was headed home by sub Chris Tate from 15 yards - but it was too little too late.
After the game Swansea boss Brian Flynn said: "I thought we deserved to win and even when Chris Tate pulled one back I felt confident we would hang on.
"I was delighted with Trundle and Nugent they are linking up well together. Although it looks like Lee might be out for a couple of weeks." The defeat was the first suffered by Orient caretaker boss Martin Ling, who had started with successive wins against Carlisle and Macclesfield.
He pulled no punches after the game: "It was an awful start - and we were bossed by Nugent and Trundle," said Ling.
"I thought we were better in the second half and we kept the pressure on Swansea but I'm disappointed with the result because I fancied us strongly to win this one as we were on a bit of a roll," he said.
