Swansea City grabbed their first win of the season with a 2-0 home victory over AFC Bournemouth.

With five changes from the team that crashed 3-2 at Bury the Swans produced a gutsy performance that leaves coach Nick Cusack with a few selection problems for Tuesday night's visit to Bristol Rovers.

But Cusack had to thank Cherries keeper Chris Tardif for their opener. With just 15 seconds on the clock the Swans got off to a flying start when Jamie Wood profitted from a disastrous mix up between on-loan stopper Tardif and defender Jason Tindall.

Wood had to nearly tap the ball into the empty net to claim his first ever goal for the Swans.

Wood looked sharp as he and his team-mates continuously pressed the Cherries defence, but neither he or strike partner James Thomas managed to extend the one-goal margin.

And despite almost hitting the post through James Hayter, the visitors never really threatened the Swans lead.

And the three points were wrapped up 17 minutes from time when the returning Andrew Mumford bravely headed home Paul Reid's corner.

Last year's player of the year Mumford looked like he is getting back to his best and would have been spurred on by his recent Wales Under-21 call-up.

Mumford said: "Obviously I am delighted to be back in the team and even more so to mark it with a goal. All the lads are pleased to get that first win out of the way and now we're all looking forward and focussing on Bristol Rovers on Tuesday."

Another man who was celebrating at the Vetch Field was veteran keeper Roger Freestone who played his 500th game for the South Wales club
