Two goalscoring opportunities late in the second half were all both sides could offer after a poor match at the Vetch Field.
Swansea skipper Kevin Nugent collected a neat pass from substitute Roberto Martinez in the 78th minute, rounded Adie Smith but with only Harriers keeper Stuart Brock to beat he side-footed his shot against the post from just 5 yards out.
In the final minute former Swansea favourite John Williams who ploughed a lonely farrow up front for the visitors latched onto a loose ball just outside the penalty area. His goal bound shot was brilliantly palmed away by Veteran keeper Roger Freestone to leave both sides settling for a point.
"In the end we are thankful for a point and thankful for Rogers save." said Swansea boss Brian Flynn. "Roberto certainly livened us up a bit when he came on early in the second half and I will look at whether I should start with him in next weeks game.
"But Lee Trundle is still a few days away from a return and I won't be rushing him back as it could only worsen the situation" Harriers boss Ian Britton left the ground refusing to make any comments which only fuelled speculation that his days with the club are numbered.
For John Williams it was an emotional return to the club he left at the end of last season.
"I never got the chance to say goodbye to the fans so today brought a little tear to my eye. You couldn't tell what side was near the top and which was near the bottom on today's performances and we scrapped away for the points but hopefully can turn our season around.
"Roger pulled off a great save from my shot. When I went through I saw my name up in lights but after his save all I could see were black clouds".
Swansea now meet Cambridge on Tuesday evening with Flynn still weighing his options on bringing in a striker while leading scorer Trundle is out injured.
