A fourth minute goal from Adam Birchall moved Wycombe into the third round of the LDV Vans Trophy at the expense of Kenny Jackett's high flying Swansea. Poor marking for the Arsenal loanee's goal eventually proved crucial, although in reality...the home side should have extended their lead with a number of second half chances.
Paul Connor came closest for the visitors with his snapshot, but Swansea keeper Willy Gueret kept the score-line down at times as Wycombe looked to extend their lead. Despite hitting the bar late on, the home side eventually booked their place in Saturday's LDV Vans Trophy Draw.
In his post-match analysis, Jackett stated that it was an extremely "disappointing" performance from his side and recent weeks have seen their form slump somewhat to early season. However, Jackett believes that the Swans could put their poor run behind them with a win infront of a huge home crowd on Saturday against fellow promotion rivals Bristol Rovers.
